BIM: The next generation
Welcome to Digital Construction – BIM: the next generation. Building Information Modelling (BIM), or Digital Construction, is spearheading a revolution in the construction industry. It is arguably the single most important driver for change across the sector. The government’s requirement for BIM Level 2 in the UK has focused minds across the sector, although there is still a huge amount of work to do to improve the industry’s BIM maturity. Digital Construction will help to develop the sector’s capabilities in BIM and collaborative working through structured support on live projects.
Digital Construction comprises a series of structured modules to support project supply chains with understanding, implementing and delivering BIM and collaborative working in a live project environment.
There is plenty of evidence which suggests that, across the supply chain, the majority of organisations lack the skills to work collaboratively to support the use of BIM. The findings of the NFB’s BIM Early Adoption Programme and other industry surveys from organisations such as the NBS and Construction News, indicate that the supply chain requires support to develop the right skills and implement the right processes to support the use of BIM.
